A jury in Dearborn, MI has found Pastor Terry Jones guilty of attempting to incite violence for something he hasn’t even done yet. Jones is the Florida preacher who gained recent notoriety for burning a Koran, which supposedly forced some crazed Muslims to kill people in the Middle East.
One of the first things you might want to know, if you don’t already, is that there are A LOT of Muslims in Dearborn. The town has one of the highest Muslim populations in the U.S. And Mr.Jones didn’t plan to burn another Koran in front of Dearborn’s Islamic Center of America, he was simply going to protest the religion of Islam.
Here’s the deal: Muslims need to get over it. If you’re a member of an organized religion in this country, you need to get used to having people make fun of your God, your beliefs, and what you hold sacred. You don’t have to like it but don’t have a kangaroo court throw someone in jail for wanting to speak out against what you believe.
Similarly, if Muslims can use the law to stifle protests and free speech, why didn’t Scott Walker come up with this approach in Madison? Those protesters caused property damage, cost millions of dollars to clean up after, and it’s pretty clear the union organizers had every intention to incite a little violence.
Oh, that’s right – fundamentalist Christian preachers are held to a different standard than union members and minority groups. Welcome to Obama’s new America, where everyone has to have some skin in the game unless you’re a member of a minority group, a unionista, or one of Barry’s chosen few. Disgusting.
That guy is a tool, but hopefully Muslims can get past the book burning anger the way they got over their fear burning another symbol: the American Flag.
By the way, it’s more like $350,000 for the Wisconsin Capital clean up, but even that estimate may be high. I submit the following link for your consideration:
